About Us

Since our creation in 2008, we’ve set out on a mission to help NetJets families in need

Our Mission

We were established to financially support NetJets families with immediate resources during times of disaster and emergency economic hardship. We do this by providing grants through the NJFF Disaster Relief and Economic Hardship Assistance Program.

Our Structure

We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and a membership organization with two members: NetJets Inc. and NetJets Association of Shared Aircraft Pilots (NJASAP), which is commonly referred to as the Pilot’s Union.

Organized in a manner to ensure we maintain our status as a public charity and to provide tax benefits to donors, we are an independent organization that is not under the direct control of either member. Instead, members from NetJets Inc. and NJASAP appoint our Board of Directors. We are also managed by one part-time employee and volunteers.

How We Help

We provide grants to assist with essential living expenses, such as, housing, utilities, food, clothing and other basic necessities. Employees are limited to one grant per rolling calendar year and the maximum amount of $15,000 during his or her lifetime. Those affected by an extended illness/injury and other extraordinary circumstances may receive amounts that exceed these limits with approval from our Board of Directors.

Types of Relief

Disaster Relief Assistance

We may provide assistance in the following situations:

  • Natural disasters (house floods, house fires, hurricanes, etc.)
  • Disasters that result from certain military action
  • A presidentially declared disaster area
  • An accident involving a common carrier or any other event the Treasury determines is catastrophic

Emergency Economic Hardship Assistance

A qualified emergency economic hardship is a severe financial hardship caused by an unexpected, unavoidable event that is urgent nature. For example:

  • An illness
  • Violent domestic abuse
  • The death of an immediate family member
  • Financial factors that hinder the employee’s ability to meet his or her on-going basic living

Our Evaluation Process

We operate in accordance with our charitable program, carefully reviewing and evaluating each application we receive. We then make a decision based on our established eligibility requirements. Strict adherence to our program allows us to function legally and efficiently in order to maintain our public charity status, provide tax benefits to donors, and continue to benefit eligible employees and their family members.
